The Public Theater returns to Vineyard Arts Project this summer to rehearse and present a new musical directed by Oskar Eustis, titled "Poster Boy." With music and lyrics by Craig Carnelia and book by Joe Tracz, "Poster Boy" is based on the story of Tyler Clementi, a college student who was a victim of cyber-bullying and committed suicide in 2010. In the piece we follow the group of gay men online who investigate the meaning behind the death, on the way discovering the power of their connections and the hope that lives on the other side of tragedy.
The only theater in New York that produces Shakespeare and the classics, musicals, contemporary, and experimental pieces in equal measure, The Public Theater (Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director; Patrick Willingham, Executive Director) serves as an advocate for the theater as an essential cultural force in leading and framing dialogue on important issues of our day.
