BalletCollective

Founded in 2010 by choreographer Troy Schumacher, BalletCollective connects artists, composers, and choreographers to create new, ballet-based works. Through a unique consideration of process, the Collective produces collaborative works that expand the boundaries of artistic disciplines and resonate with a wide audience. This summer, BalletCollective will be working on at least two new commissions for their upcoming season in Dumbo, Brooklyn the week of October 22nd. One between Troy Schumacher, composer Judd Greenstein, and artist Zaria Forman, and another by choreographer Preston Chamblee with collaborators. Dancers include NYCB's Ashley Laracey, Emilie Gerrity, Mary Thomas MacKinnon, Mira Nadon, India Bradley, Preston Chamblee, and Davide Ricardo.

The Ashley Bouder Project

Returning to Vineyard Arts Project for her second summer, Ashley Bouder will be bringing a group of dancers/choreographers to experience a choreographic workshop under The Ashley Bouder Project (ABP) umbrella. Through this, they will create a safe, friendly space to explore ideas with no pressure to put something on stage. If a new work does develop, though, it will be able to go into the ABP repertory and be presented as a premiere for an upcoming show. ABP is an arts collaborative dedicated to furthering the inclusion of women and marginalized people in leadership roles in the performing arts world.

Emily Kikta & Peter Walker

At Vineyard Arts Project, Emily Kikta and Peter Walker will experiment with incorporating multimedia video content into live dance performance. Using their own original choreography created for this project, they explore how video can add to the experience in a live theater and create a more immersive audience experience. They will work on two different concepts: Kikta will film site specific choreography on the island to then integrate with a live stage piece to create a new way of experiencing storytelling through dance, Walker will incorporate multiple livestream cameras to capture different perspectives of the performance as it is happening to give the audience a new and deliberate focus of the movement.
